Do you pick a word for the new year ahead? I started doing this a few years ago and it has stuck. I like it because it’s not a dreaded resolution, where I feel I must give up something or add something difficult. Instead, it’s an intentional word that I want at the forefront of my thoughts as I start a new year. My words have varied. I guess this is based on my goals, inspiration, and where I am at that time of life. Words I have chosen in the past have been strength, love, peace, and fun. Last year I chose, ‘nourish’. It served me well.

This year my word is STRETCH.

I chose stretch as my word for 2024 because I want to be intentional about stretching outside my comfort zone. I know I can go further, and this is the year to do it. I want to stretch my mind by experiencing new adventures and reading new books. I want to stretch my relationships with those I hold near and dear. I want to stretch my body with yoga, morning full-body stretching, and evening wind-down stretching. I want to stretch this publishing company, Enchanted Moon Press. I want to pour into it with new ideas, relationships with authors, illustrators, and editors. I want to stretch our genres, with focuses on women’s health, young adult novels, and cultural awareness. Stretching can be daunting, but think of how far you can go!
