“Enchanted Moon Press: Books For All Phases of Life.” It came to me like a download, the name of the company, as well as the tagline. It was crystal clear and felt right to embark on a business that would create books for all phases of life. Although we have mainly published children’s books up until this point, there is a different book on the horizon. A new book for women, written by women. I can’t wait to share it with you in July 2024.
We have been running a contest for women to share their stories of healing, transformation, and inspiration. The stories that have come through have been written with so much heart and talent. You can feel the vulnerability in their words. Some of these women are seasoned authors and some are writing for the first time. It is not lost on me how much courage it takes to write and share your story. It’s like letting an audience get a sneak peek into your soul.
The first contest I ever entered was similar to this one. My memoir ended up being chosen as a winner and published in Tales2Inspire, a book created by Lois W. Stern. I chose to write about my exit from teaching at a school that I dearly loved. I wrote about the changes in education with Covid. I wrote about how being there no longer felt right for me. I wrote about how I hoped to be an inspiration to my own children to follow their hearts and desires. Great excitement came with having my story published, but nerves set in too. My former principal and coworkers bought and read copies of the book. Strangers were reading my words, a glimpse into my life. What would people think? I decided to let my ego take a backseat and chose to lead with my heart.
I applaud those willing to share their stories. Whether you are sharing memoirs, trues stories of your life, or even sharing fictional stories, stories of your imagination. Both genres come from within you. I commend those willing to share, not just because it takes courage, but because you are changing lives with your words. When people read your stories, those stories stay with them. Think about it. Do you have a story that could impact lives?
Our contest is open until June 1st. If there is a little nudge in you to share your story, I encourage you to sit down and write it. Even if you decide not to enter it in a contest. Write the words of your heart. What was something hard that you have had to overcome? How have you grown? What can you share to help others? Have you had a big realization about life and how did it come to you? Sit with your story. And then if you do decide you are ready to share it, reach out to me. I am here to help with stories for all phases of life.
Until next time, Happy Reading!
