SUMMARY:2024 Women's Writing Contest
DESCRIPTION:Women’s Writing Contest\nStories of Transformation and Healing\nContest Opens January 20\, 2024 and Closes June 01\, 2024\nHave you ever felt like there’s a story within you that’s ready to come out? But maybe the thought of writing an entire book is daunting. Maybe you’ve thought you could share it in just a few pages. Now is your time. \n CONTEST GUIDELINES:\n\nEach submitted short story must be an original\, non-fiction story.\nInspire\, motivate\, uplift the reader’s spirits or give them an ‘aha’ moment of awareness.\n\nAlthough no rule is absolute\, and stories certainly can contain elements of sadness\, try to focus your story so that overall the positive shines through. In sharing your story of transformation and healing\, others can heal as well. Write to inspire\, excite\, or warm the heart of your readers. Tell your story so that it has an emotional impact on the reader. Make them laugh\, cry\, connect\, shout YES.\n\n\nInvite the reader in so they can experience and feel the power of your story.\n\nStart with the action and draw your reader in. Avoid using an introductory paragraph that tells what your story is about or a concluding paragraph that tells the reader what to think or feel. Avoid preaching. Don’t tell the reader how to feel\, how to live\, how to think\, etc. Let them feel it for themselves and draw their own conclusions.\n\n\nSpiritual stories must have universal appeal.\n\nAvoid proselytizing. Stories must be written so that people of all beliefs can relate to the message. Do not promote any given religion\, religious beliefs\, ritual or deity. Although your story most likely has a spiritual element\, try to stay away from making a particular religious belief the center of the story.\n\n\n Stick to one central theme and develop it fully.\n\nFirst try completing this one sentence: “My story is about . . .” Once you have established your central theme and understand the central message you want to convey\, let all your paragraphs flow from that one sentence.\n\n\n Polish to perfection.\n\nAfter you have written your story\, give it to at several writer friends or an internet critique group for their unbiased input. Tell them you are asking for their help to make your story as strong as possible. Then listen\, listen\, listen.\n\n\n Edit and proofread VERY thoroughly. \n Use only one single space at the end of each sentence.\n\nPlease avoid double spaces after end punctuation marks as they do not format properly in print layout.\n\n\n\n  \nHow to Submit Your Story\nEMAIL THE FOLLOWING TO: enchantedmoonpress@gmail.com \n\nAttachment 1: Your story\, a maximum of 1200 words\, saved as a Word Document \nAttachment 2: Your 150 word maximum bio paragraph. List your name exactly as you want it to appear in print and an optional URL link of your choice\nAttachment 3: A 150 word or more teaser about your story. (Tell just enough to tease readers into wanting to read more.)\nAttachment 4: One or more author owned photos relevant to your inspiring story\, scanned at high resolution (i.e. 200 DPI) – maximum of three photos\nAttachment 5: A few words you would like to appear as a caption under each photo\nAttachment 6: An author headshot\, scanned at high resolution (i.e. 200 DPI)\nAttachment 7: A signed and dated copy of the Release Form (see below)\n\n  \nRelease Form\nKindly print\, scan and return a signed copy to: enchantedmoonpress@gmail.com. \nWriting Contest Release Form \nWinner Rewards\n\nYou receive the distinction of being named an award winning author\, a coveted credential you carry for a lifetime\nYour story published\, with your name listed as its author\, in a respected book collection\nYour photo and mini-biography published inside the book along with your story\nYour name listed on Amazon.com as a contributing author (currently Amazon only allows 10 names to be listed\, but that might change.)\nYour story featured on a rotating basis in the monthly Enchanted Moon Press LLC newsletter\nYou and your story featured on a rotating basis on social media outlets

SUMMARY:Kid's Writing Contest
DESCRIPTION:About the Contest\nOn February 23\, Enchanted Moon Press will be publishing a book all about “What Grown-Ups Should Know”. It will be a book written by kids (ages 2-17) and YOU could be a part of it. \nKids say the darndest things\, and it’s about time a book encapsulates what kids want grown-ups to know. Entries can be heart-felt\, silly\, short or long. But each entry must be original and authentic.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nHow to Enter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo enter\, please submit these three items as attachments in an email to enchantedmoonpress@gmail.com \n1. Your hand-written entry. Please write about what you\, as a kid\, think grown-ups need to know. There are no word count restrictions\, but please keep it to one page. Younger children can have parents help with handwriting. You can use blank copy paper or lined paper. All entries should be revised and edited\, so your “final copy”. \n2. One\, two\, or three photographs. These photos can be of you or the topic you are writing about. At least one photograph must be submitted with each entry. \n3. A permission form\, signed by your parent/guardian\, giving your writing and photographs permission to be published if chosen as a winner.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAwards & Rules\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n– Twelve winners will be announced on February 16\, 2023.\n– There is no entry fee.\n– All entries must be original work reviewed\, approved\, and consented by a parent/guardian.\n– The competition runs from January 15\, 2023 to February 15\, 2023.

SUMMARY:Book Club
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text el_class=”mg-bottom-50″] \nGetting feedback from Beta Readers\, Editors\, and Critique Groups is an essential step in the publishing process. But when your book is written for children\, we believe getting feedback from kids is equally important. \nThere may have been some bribery with frozen yogurt\, but regardless\, this group of 2nd- 6th graders agreed to be my test group for my upcoming MG Sci-Fi book. They each received a copy of the manuscript with instructions to be brutally honest. They made notes along the margins as they read. When we met up for our book club meeting\, they were so excited to share their thoughts. As the author\, I took each morsel of feedback to heart. Then I went back to the computer to do my final revisions before sending it off to the editor. \nThank you to this wonderful group of young scholars!
